Titli: Trailer

Titli-2014-MovieKanu Behl who has been working with Dibakar Banerjee for a while has turned filmmaker with Titli, a film being produced by Dibakar and YRF. The film has been in the news of late, having been selected for the prestigious Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Written by Kanu Behl and Sharat Katariya, Titli has music by Sneha Khanwalkar while Siddharth Diwan is the DOP and Namrata Rao is the editor. Titli features Ranvir Shorey, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Amit Sial, Prashant Singh, Lalit Behl etc.

PlotIn the badlands of Delhi’s underbelly, Titli, the youngest member of a violent car-jacking brotherhood, plots a desperate bid to escape the ‘family’ business. His schemes are thwarted by his unruly brothers, who marry him off against his will. But Titli finds an unlikely ally in his new wife, Neelu, who nurtures her own frustrated dreams. They form a strange, mutually exploitative pact to break the stranglehold of their family roots.

  1. I do not know what is so prestigious about Un Certain Regard,when this films are not in main competition.

    • Un Certain Regard is second only to the main competition section & even this section
      offers a top prize similar to the Palme d’Or.Also a look at the kind of films selected under
      the section & list of winners in the previous years will tell you of the quality of films
      that make it to the section.And another reason why Titli’s selection under the same is
      prestigious-very few Indian films like Piravi & Udaan have been selected for the same.
      Also films under Un Certain Regard can also compete for Camera d’Or along with the films in main competition.

    • It’s a competition for young filmmakers with only one or two films under their belt. Even guys like Paul Thomas Anderson made his start here.
