Sexy Durga: Trailer

sexy-durga-poster-2Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who has made Malayalam films like Oraalppokkam (2014) and Ozhivudivasathe Kali (2016), both of which have fetched Kerala State Awards is now in the news for his 3rd film, Sexy Durga. Winner of the Hivos Tiger Award at the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) this year as well as the DI Award at the NFDC Film Bazaar, 2016. A thriller reflecting the chilling darkness in the society, the film was made without any screenplay and shot at night in Kerala.Featuring Rajshri Deshpande (earlier seen in Angry Indian Goddesses) in the lead, the film is produced by Aruna Mathew and Shaji Mathew. The music is by Basil C.J, while Prathap Joseph is the DOP and editing is by Sanal himself. 

Plot– Durga, a north Indian migrant and a Keralite youth named Kabeer are running away on a midnight. They are waiting for a transport to the nearest railway station to catch a train to a distant place. Two small time gangsters, transporting arms, offer assistance to the couple. The hapless “Durga” encounters a cross section of the society through the rest of the night. Parallel to the journey of Durga another mysterious event inter-cuts in the film. In a Kerala village, devotees perform ‘Garudan Thookkam’, a ritual art form submitted as a reward for the problems solved in the abode of Goddess Kali, who represents Goddess Durga’s personified wrath and embodied fury.

Despite winning accolades the film is already turning out to be controversial due to its title, check out the 2 promos of the film.
