Director Pawan Kumar’s Lucia is perhaps the most successful crowdfunded Indian film till date and can surely be a considered as a case study for the crowdfunding model. The film which was made at a budget of Rs 51 lakhs (raised entirely through crowdfunding) was a box office success and the satellite rights were sold to Udaya TV at a very lucrative price. The film was also remade in Tamil as Ennakul Oruvan, while the Hindi remake rights were sold to Fox Star Studios.
Three years after Lucia, Pawan Kumar returns with U Turn, which yet again is a crowdfunded venture. The film narrates the story of a journalist (Shraddha Srinath) who gets entangled in a murder case. The film also stars Roger Narayan (last seen in Sandeep Mohan‘s unique Indie film Hola Venky), Radhika Chetan (last seen in the blockbuster Kannada film Rangi Taranga), Krishna, Aarna, Pavan, Naveen and Sudha Belwadi among others.
The film is produced by Pawan Kumar’s newly-launched banner PK Studios with music by Poornachandra Tejaswi. While the film is shot by Satya Hegde, Advitha Gurumurthy, Siddharth Nuni and edited by Suresh. The release date of the film has not been announced yet. But do have a look at the trailer of the film which indeed seems interesting. Do let us know whether you liked or hated it?
