Popular Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee made his directorial debut with Jiyo Kaka (2011) after which he made Hawa Bodol (2013). He is now ready with his 3rd film as director, Lorai which is releasing this Friday, 9th January. Featuring Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead, the film is produced by Shyam Sudar De. Written by Parambrata and Padmanabha Dasgupta,Lorai has music by Indradeep Dasgupta while Gopi Bhagat is the DOP and Bodhaditya Banerjee is the editor.
Plot-Sebastian Ryan (Prosenjit) is a former star Anglo Indian footballer of the Kolkata Football League, who was forced into premature retirement because of an untimely and deadly injury.Today he is in his early fifties,coaching some kids from a small time football academy. His is a life wasted in failure and alcohol, his wife and daughter having left him long ago. He can’t wait to leave for Australia, where he wishes to join his nephew on his farm. At this juncture he receives a new assignment where he is sent to a remote rural corner of Bengal on a government mission to train young villagers in football and make a team. Upon landing in this devastatingly poor and insurgency prone area, Ryan discovers a new India, and in the process of imparting football training to the poor villagers, redeems the villagers and also re-invents himself.
