Prakash Raj through his production house ‘Duet Films‘ has been known to support films with some interesting topics within the commercial space. Movies like Azhagiya Theeye, Mozhi, Abhiyum Naanum,Prayanam/Gaganam etc are some of the films from the stable of Duet Films. Prakash Raj turned director recently with Naanu Nanna Kanasu, the Kannada remake of Abhiyum Naanum/Aakasamantha. And now Prakash Raj is back with Dhoni, a bilingual movie in Tamil and Tamil. Produced and directed by Prakash Raj himself, he also plays the main lead here.
Also starring Mugdha Godse, Radhika Apte, Nassar, Tanikella Bharani,Brahmanandam, Murli Sharma etc, the film has music by the one & only veteran Ilaiyaraja. K.V.Guhan is the cinematographer and the film is named after the Indian Cricket Captain, M.S.Dhoni.The film is supposed to be a take on the pressures that school children are facing these days, a subject that most of us can relate to. The film is due for release in February,2012.And as it turns out it looks like the film is a remake of the Marathi film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho ( 2010 ) directed by Mahesh Manjrekar with Bharat Jadhav in the lead. This film even had a Bengali remake, Chalo Paltai with Prosenjit in the lead.
